3. Batu Hijau, Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara
Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, is another gold-producing region in Indonesia, specifically in Bukit Hijau. 2.77 million ounces of raw gold were discovered in this area.
Initially, the Batu Hijau mine was owned by PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara. However, the mining area is now a subsidiary of PT Merdeka Copper Gold Tbk. Its name was changed to PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara.
In 2020, PT Amman began the final phase of mining at Batu Hijau, producing 4.12 million ounces of gold and 4.47 billion pounds of copper.
4. Pujon, Central Kalimantan
The island of Kalimantan has one of the largest gold reserves. One of these is located in Pujon Village, Central Kalimantan.
Who would have thought that a small village in Kalimantan would become one of the largest gold-producing regions in Indonesia? Pujon Village has gold reserves of up to 40 million tons and silver reserves of 16 million tons.
5. Gosowong, Halmahera, North Maluku
In North Maluku, specifically in Halmahera, there is a gold mine with the largest gold reserves in Indonesia. This mine is known as the Gosowong gold mine.
This mine is managed by PT Nusa Halmahera Mineral (NHM). This area was discovered in 1996 and has resources of approximately 770 kilo ounces.
Besides Gosowong, there are two other areas around Halmahera that are estimated to have abundant gold reserves: Ngailamo and Sesewet.

6. Tujuh Bukit, Bayuwangi
Bayuwangi is known for its abundant natural resource potential, including gold mining. Known as the Tujuh Bukit or Tumpang Pitu mine, this mining area is the second-largest gold-producing region in Indonesia.
Imagine, this area has mineral reserves of up to 1.9 billion tons, 28 million ounces of which are gold. The company managing it is PT Bumi Suksesinfo Tbk (BSI).
What's more interesting about this mine is that they use heap leach technology, which is considered more environmentally friendly for the mining industry. This technology is considered to not produce tailings or gold waste from mercury.
