“As a sedan that has accompanied the Indonesian people for almost 20 years, the Vios has become an important brand for Toyota. We are grateful that this sedan known for its high quality, durability, and reliability has received a very good reception worldwide. Even in Indonesia itself, Vios emerged as the market leader in its segment. In total, since its introduction in 2003, the Vios has recorded retail sales of more than 130,000 units. As a form of appreciation, today we present the All New Vios with a new platform and all new design in all exterior and interior aspects, as well as increased safety features and additional advanced technology. We hope that the All New Vios can fulfill the needs of customers in the sedan segment and continue its role as a market leader,\" said Vice President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Henry Tanoto.
The Vios was first introduced in Indonesia in 2003. In line with customer needs and growing trends, the Vios continued to be developed until it gave birth to four generations and earned the nickname \"a tough sedan.\"
With a stylish design, a comfortable and functional cabin, and an efficient engine, the Vios when it first arrived managed to attract customers and become the most popular Toyota sedan in Indonesia. The design transformation and the presence of new, complete, and sophisticated features on the current All New Vios are a form of appreciation for customers so that they can feel the taste and experience of driving a high-end sedan in an entry sedan.
The presence of the All New Vios is also to further strengthen the Toyota segment as well as to stimulate the national automotive market which is still showing significant sales growth to date. From 2022 to August total national car sales reached 658,000 units or greater than 2021 sales which reached 543,000 units. The positive sales trend also includes an increase in sales in the sedan market, which will grow to 4,100 units in 2022 compared to 2021, which will be 3,500 units.
All New Vios Total Transformation
The Toyota Vios was first introduced in Indonesia in 2003 to replace the Toyota Soluna, which had already been favored by customers in filling the sub-compact sedan or B-segment Class market. Along the way, the first generation of Toyota Vios succeeded in meeting customer expectations, so it was continued by the second generation in 2007 and the third generation in 2013. All generations of Vios sedans succeeded in attracting the urban middle class who needed prestigious, comfortable, and functional mobility solutions at competitive expenses.
The use of this new platform on the All New Vios provides an opportunity for Toyota to increase the element of convenience by changing the dimensions of the 4th generation Vios. Now, the car is 4,410mm long, 1,740mm wide, and 1,480mm high, with a wheelbase of up to 2,620mm.
With its dimensions that are 10 mm wider and 20 mm lower, and a wheelbase increased by 70 mm compared to the previous generation, the All New Vios can still be agile in maneuvering. The wider body of the All New Vios also offers better convenience because the cabin is wider.
Furthermore, a sporty, powerful, modern Keen-Look-style sedan visual can be seen on the front of the All New Vios. The extra-large trapezoidal grille dominates its face with solid black blades and a three-dimensional style. In the upper part, there is a thin transverse grille that looks harmonious with the L-shape LED headlights reinforced by sturdy and aerodynamic curves that form air dams in the corners of the front bumper. Sturdy curves continue on the hood and are accentuated by masculine side shoulder lines.
The futuristic-style 17-inch alloy wheels seem to dominate the side of the car and they are near the end of the fender makes the All New Vios look powerful and authoritative. The presence of a third window behind the side door (6-light window) which emphasizes a more backward cabin, makes the All New Vios to be more elegant. Besides, the Fastback Style with the rear window sloping towards the end of the trunk gives a distinctive silhouette of a luxury sedan. The classy feel of the sedan continues in the simple and modern stern design with a touch of L-shape LED taillights, diffuser accents, shark fin antennas, and tiny air holes at the end of the rear bumper.
The combination of elegant and powerful design themes is also attached in the cabin of the All New Vios. The dominance of black in the interior creates a classy and comfortable impression. The new modern dashboard design uses soft-touch materials that are in harmony with the door trim design. In the Vios grade G, the use of similar materials continues on the instrument panel, knee pads, and armrests on the doors and mid console.
The driver-oriented cockpit design as well as the proper driver\'s seat position provides adequate exit visibility and maintains the comfort of daily mobility. The classy sedan feel is also relished by rear passengers who get more spacious seating space like the Medium Sedan with the help of the extra wheelbase and Fastback Style roof.
In addition, the longer wheelbase also ensures added comfort aspects while strengthening handling on the road. The lower body also provides a better center of gravity to improve ride quality without compromising passenger comfort as there is adequate headroom.
All New Vios now adopts a new engine coded 2NR-VE 1,496 cc 4-cylinder that is tough and reliable. The efficient use of Dual VVT-i technology makes this compact engine capable of delivering power and fuel economy in various road conditions and driving styles. For the record, the All New Vios engine provides 106 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. Power distribution to the front wheels is channeled through the option of a 5-speed manual or CVT transmission.
