So, how much gold reserves does Indonesia have? Total primary gold ore reserves in 2024 were recorded at 3.46 billion tons, and total gold metal reserves at 3,444 tons.
This is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 228.K/MB.03/MEM.G/2025 concerning the National Mineral and Coal Resources and Reserves Balance for 2025, which was issued on July 3, 2025.

Meanwhile, total primary gold ore resources are 17.2 billion tons, and primary gold metal resources are 12,364 tons.
Primary gold production is 1.4 million tons of concentrate and 17 tons of gold metal.
The Ministerial Decree explains that the National Mineral and Coal Resources and Reserves Balance for 2025 is detailed in the Indonesian Mineral and Coal Resources and Reserves Balance Book for 2025, published by the Geological Agency.
The book states that verified primary gold resource locations are 143 (38.5%) and verified reserve data is available for 98 (25.9%) of the total.

The verified primary gold ore resources and reserves are 12.9 billion tons (74.8%), and reserves represent 3.07 billion tons (88.7%) of the total gold ore resources and reserves, primarily derived from data from PT Freeport Indonesia and PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara.
Meanwhile, verified primary gold metal reserves represent 2,550 tons (74%) of the total primary gold reserves.
