Natural gas is also abundant in East Kalimantan. This region is estimated to have natural gas reserves of 2,684 TCF.
Bontang City in this province is home to the world's largest LNG plant, operated by PT Badak NGL. In addition to Bontang, areas such as Tarakan, Balikpapan, and the Sanga-Sanga Block also contribute to natural gas production in East Kalimantan.
According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), East Kalimantan contributes approximately 23 percent of total national natural gas production.

5. South Sumatra
South Sumatra has natural gas reserves of 2,341 TCF. Musi Banyuasin Regency is the largest production center in the province, with other areas such as Muara Enim, Sungai Gerong, and Plaju also contributing to natural gas production.
The local government has built a gas pipeline network to distribute fuel to the community, so that the benefits of natural gas production can be directly felt by local residents.
These are some of the largest natural gas producing regions in Indonesia, with abundant reserves capable of meeting energy needs, both domestically and for export to various countries.
