The agreement became legal on February 6 in 1819 and Temasek name was changed to Singapore. Raffles returned to Bengkulu  after signing the agreement with Johor. William Farquhar then leaded up this new British colony with assistence of British soldiers army. With all the problems they have in different condition, Singapore is growing quickly due to its status as a free port. Arab, Chinese and Indian traders made it their stopover. Singapore colony by Raffles got into trouble when the Dutch accused the British of interfering in their territory and asked the British to leave Singapore. At first, the British Empire and the East India Company (EIC) sympathized with this problem, but eventually they abandoned it in the interest of progress in Singapore. By 1822, it was clear that the British intended that they would not surrender Singapore to the Dutch. The Singapore incident led to a dispute between England and the Netherlands and as a result the agreement and signing of the Treaty of London was held in 1824. the Treaty of London in 1824 In the city of London on March 17, 1824, the United Kingdom of Great Britain (United Kingdom) and Koninkrijk der Nederlanden (Kingdom of the Netherlands) wrote the Anglo-Dutch Treaty  1824, also known as the London Agreement. This agreement was intended to resolve conflicts that had arisen as a result of the enactment of the Anglo-Dutch Treaty 1814. The Netherlands was represented by Hendrik Fagel and Anton Reinhard Falck, while Britain was represented by George Canning and Charles Watkins Williams Wynn. This agreement explains that the two countries are allowed to exchange territories in British India, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and India, based on the country that is most desirable, with the consideration that each country must comply with regulations set locally. The content of Agreement are : 

1. Limits on the amount of payment that may be imposed on goods and ships from other countries.

2. No agreements with eastern states that do not include/limit trade agreements with other countries. 

3. Not allowed to use military and civil force to obstruct trade agreements

4. Againts piracy and not provide place to hide or protection for pirates or permit the sale of pirated goods.

5. The local officials can't open new representative offices in the East Indian islands without a permission of their respective governments in Europe.

The considerations in this agreement are :

 

1. The Netherlands give all of the companies or buildings that had been established on Indian territory with the rights associated.

2. The Netherlands give the city and fort from Malacca and agreed not to open representative offices in the Malay peninsula or enter into any agreements with the authority. 

3. The Netherlands pull back from the British occupation of the island of Singapore.
