Untold Story: Did Adolf Hitler Ever Live in Indonesia?
Adolf Hitler, a controversial figure in world history.--
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, at the Gasthof zum Pommer, a guesthouse at Salzburger Vorstadt 15, Braunau am Inn, Austria-Hungary.
He was the fourth of six children born to Alois Hitler and Klara Pölzl (1860–1907). His older siblings, Gustav, Ida, and Otto, died in infancy.
Adolf went from being a confident, sociable, and intelligent child to a gloomy, withdrawn, and sullen boy who frequently quarreled with his father and teachers after his younger brother, Edmund, died of smallpox in 1900.
Hitler was a failed artist. In 1907 and 1908, Hitler was rejected by the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts on the grounds that he was unsuited to painting.
He was then advised to study architecture. These two rejections left Hitler financially exhausted.
He then lived in a homeless shelter in 1909. Then, in 1910, he settled in a home for the poor on Meldemannstrabe. Hitler entered the military after World War I.
Although born an Austrian citizen, he enlisted in the Bavarian Army (Germany's southernmost state) in August 1914.
During the war, Hitler served in France and Belgium with the 16th Bavarian Reserve Regiment.
Hitler initially enlisted as a Schütze and was promoted once to the rank of Gefreiter. Hitler's main duties at that time included the relative safety of serving as a messenger on the Western Front, based at regimental headquarters a few miles from the front.
Hitler was briefly hospitalized in Pasewalk on October 15, 1918. He suffered temporary blindness from a mustard gas attack.
At that time, Hitler received news of Germany's defeat and learned from it.
He was furious at the Treaty of Versailles. Various German territories were confiscated, the Rhineland was demilitarized, and sanctions were imposed that devastated the German economy.
It was on this occasion that Hitler's ideology arose, determined to liberate Germany and make it great. Hitler was appointed Verbindungsmann (intelligence agent) of the Reichswehr's Aufklärungskommando (reconnaissance commando).
Hitler was tasked with influencing other soldiers and infiltrating the German Workers' Party (DAP) in July 1919.
