Three Mountains That Hold Gold, One of Them in Indonesia
There are several mountains in the world that contain large amounts of gold.--
Bayuwangi is known for its abundant natural resource potential, including gold mining. Known as the Tujuh Bukit or Tumpang Pitu mine, this mining area is the second-largest gold-producing region in Indonesia.
Imagine, this area has mineral reserves of up to 1.9 billion tons, 28 million ounces of which are gold. The company managing it is PT Bumi Suksesinfo Tbk (BSI).
What's more interesting about this mine is that they use heap leach technology, which is considered more environmentally friendly for the mining industry. This technology is considered to not produce tailings or gold waste from mercury.
7. Grasberg, Mimika, Papua
This gold mine is located in Mimika, Papua, also known as the Grasberg mine.
This mine can produce 3 million tons of concentrate per year. In fact, this mine is claimed to produce 240 kg of pure gold daily. This mine is managed by PT Freeport Indonesia. It is also located only 4 kilometers from the peak of the Jayawijaya Mountains, also known as the Cartensz.
