1. Maluku

Maluku Province ranks first as the region with the largest proven natural gas reserves in Indonesia, reaching 13,988 trillion cubic feet (TCF).

These reserves are spread across various regions, including Seram Island, North Maluku, Southeast Maluku, and Central Maluku. The discovery of gas reserves on Seram Island, particularly in the Seram Non-Bula Working Area (WK), Setu Village, North Seram Timur Seti District, adds to this region's significant potential in the energy sector.

2. Papua

Papua, particularly West Papua, is also among the largest natural gas producing regions in Indonesia.

This region has natural gas reserves of 11,447 TCF. The Bintuni Bay area is the largest LNG (liquefied natural gas) production and processing center in West Papua.

In addition, areas such as Sorong, Kapulanda, Babo, and Klamono also hold significant natural gas reserves. The Tangguh LNG project, operated by BP Berau Ltd. in Bintuni Bay, has been operational since 2009 and plays a vital role in national natural gas production.

3. Natuna (Riau Islands)

The Natuna Islands in the Riau Islands Province also have proven natural gas reserves of 4,187 TCF.
