INTERNATIONAL, RBTVDISWAY.ID - The five largest gold-producing regions in Indonesia are spread across several regions. Almost all are located outside Java.

Gold is a natural metallic mineral resource. According to various sources, gold is generally used for jewelry, plating, gold lettering, photography, and even scientific laboratory equipment.

Indonesia's gold production is estimated to reach 48 tons per year. This places Indonesia in third place in Asia as a gold-producing country.

So, which cities are the largest gold producers in Indonesia?

1. Papua

Papua is the first city to produce gold in Indonesia, particularly in Mimika Regency.

This region is also home to the largest gold mine, managed by PT Freeport Indonesia. PT Freeport Indonesia can produce 240 kilograms of pure gold daily.

2. Sumbawa

Sumbawa Island, specifically the Batu Hijau mine in West Nusa Tenggara, is the largest gold-producing city in Indonesia after Papua.

At this location, 2.77 million ounces of raw gold have been discovered. The gold in this area has attracted considerable interest from neighboring countries.

3. Gosowong Gosowong ranks as the third largest gold mining site in Indonesia.

This area is managed by the state-owned company, PT Aneka Tambang. During the gold ore mining process, at least 20 million ounces have been mined from the Halmahera soil.

4. Pujon

Pujon Village, Central Kalimantan, is one of the largest gold producing locations in Indonesia. This village is often nicknamed the Golden Village due to its gold ore.
