Edi hopes this collaboration will be a good start in uncovering mineral and coal mining law enforcement cases.

As previously reported, the PPNS of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal conducted a series of Supervision, Observation, Research, and Inspection (WASMATLITRIK) activities under the coordination and supervision of the PPNS Korwas Bureau of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) in response to public complaints regarding alleged illegal gold ore mining activities using deep mining methods within the Mining Business Permit (IUP) area.

At this deep mine location, a number of pieces of evidence were found that are characteristic of gold processing and refining, including a stone crusher (grinder), induction furnace, electric heater, colliery for melting gold, graphite bullion mold, exhaust/suction fan, gold capture chemicals, salt, lime and equipment used for mining, including a blasting machine, lower dozer, electric dump truck and lorry.

Mobilization

Evidence has been deposited at the Ketapang Police Station for mobilization purposes, and items that can be transported can be shown here.

In addition, some evidence is still in transit due to flight administration issues.

The modus operandi used in this crime was to exploit a deep mining pit (tunnel) still under maintenance within the Mining Business Permit (WIUP) under the pretext of maintenance and upkeep. However, the actual activities in the tunnel included blasting/demolition using explosives, then processing and refining the gold ore on site (inside the tunnel).

The results of the refining work in the tunnel were transported outside the pit in the form of gold dore/bullion.

According to Article 158 of Law Number 3 of 2020, the suspect faces a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment and a maximum fine of 100 billion rupiah.

This case will be further investigated in parallel, in conjunction with the follow-up action by the Ketapang District Attorney's Office.
