A Seluma Regency official explained that a survey team from PT ESDM has been conducting a land road survey since early September 2023, through Kemang Manis Village, Semidang Alas District.

He added that the PT ESDM gold mine area covers 30,010 hectares. The initial investigation process began in 2008, when the area was granted a land use permit from the then-Regent of Seluma.
Then, in 2010, an exploration mining permit was obtained from the Regent of Seluma. However, following a change in nomenclature in 2017, the permit process was taken over by the Bengkulu Provincial Government and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK).
