INTERNATIONAL, RBTVDISWAY.ID – Indonesia is one of the world's largest gold producers. Estimated annual gold production reaches 48 tons.
Indonesia has 5 percent of its gold reserves, equivalent to 2,600 tons of gold, that can still be mined or extracted. This estimated gold reserve is equal to the gold reserves of Brazil.
Meanwhile, gold-producing areas in Indonesia are spread across several provinces, from Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Papua, Maluku, and Java.
Some of the largest gold-producing regions in Indonesia are Central Kalimantan, Central Papua, and West Nusa Tenggara.

Since 2010, the company has been conducting exploration activities within the Hu'u Project Contract of Work (KK).
The natural resources discovered at the site are estimated to weigh 2 billion tons. This discovery comprises potential mineral resources of 1.1 billion tons of copper and gold, as well as potential recorded mineral resources of 1 billion tons of copper and gold.
In 2022, PT STM is still conducting exploration and is scheduled to enter the exploitation or mining phase between 2026 and 2028.
The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government will facilitate PT STM's acceleration to the exploitation phase, including in accordance with the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and other regulations.
PT STM holds the seventh-generation Contract of Work (KK) signed by the Indonesian Government on February 19, 1998.
This discovery indicates that Dompu has significant potential gold reserves. Based on previous claims, gold reserves in Dompu are estimated at 1.38 million tons, as Newmont's Batu Hijau mine holds reserves of 690,000 tons. Furthermore, copper reserves in Dompu are estimated to exceed 8.6 million tons, or 19 billion pounds.
