INDONESIA, RBTVDISWAY.ID - Indonesia is the fourth-largest coffee producer in the world, after Brazil, Vietnam, and Colombia. Coffee plantations cover 1.2 million hectares, with an annual production of around 700,000 tons.
Two types of coffee are widely grown in Indonesia:
- Arabica (25%): grown in cool highlands, with a complex aroma and smooth taste.
- Robusta (75%): grown in lowlands, with a strong and bitter character, widely used for instant coffee and espresso blends.
Beyond its distinctive flavor, Indonesian coffee is known internationally for its geographical diversity.
Each region has its own distinctive flavor identity, from the bright acidity of Bali Kintamani to the richness of Lampung Robusta.
However, the success of coffee exports is not just about taste. The supply chain depends on stable and efficient maritime logistics.
