Who Are Yajuj and Majuj? One of the Signs of the Apocalypse According to Islam

"You say you have no enemies. You will continue to fight your enemies until Gog and Magog emerge with broad faces, narrow eyes, and yellow-skinned figures, descending from every hill. "It was as if their faces were flat like the surface of a hammer," (Narrated by Imam Ahmad).

As narrated in the same book and based on several sources, this people existed before the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Before the death of Prophet Noah (peace be upon him), all his children were summoned by Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him).

However, two of his sons, Ham and Yafits, did not heed the summons. Yafits chose to have intimate relations with his wife, which led to Allah SWT sending down a reward upon them.

Yafits and his wife had a son named Sannaf. However, as Sannaf grew older, strange things began to appear in his appearance. This son was later called Yajuj and Majuj.

As Sannaf grew older, he began producing many offspring. Yafits' descendants greatly disturbed the surrounding community because they consumed all natural resources. This led to a water and food crisis, and environmental damage became widespread.

Allah SWT then sent Prophet Zulqarnain (peace be upon him) to confine them to a building or wall made of copper and iron. Prophet Zulqarnain asked the surrounding community to leave the area.

Allah also sent A revelation to the Prophet Zulkarnain stated that the wall he built would remain strong until the time Allah SWT determined it would be opened, namely, before the arrival of the great Day of Judgment.

To this day, the existence of Yajuj and Majuj remains a secret from Allah SWT. According to a hadith narrated by Al-Hakim in the Mustadrak, Yajuj and Majuj continue to expand throughout the world.

However, Allah SWT's power has shielded their presence from us. Until the right time, when one of their leaders utters the key phrase "Insha Allah," the wall that confines Yajuj and Majuj will be opened.
