Base metal exploration at the Mount Pongkor mine began in 1974, making it one of Indonesia's most important gold sources.

The Pongkor Gold Mine has three main quartz veins rich in gold and silver: the Ciguha vein, the Kubang Kicau vein, and the Cicurug vein.

Geological reserves at Mount Pongkor reach approximately 6 million tons of gold ore with an average gold grade of approximately 17.14 grams per ton and a silver grade of approximately 154.28 grams per ton.

This figure demonstrates the significance of the mineral resources found on Mount Pongkor.

According to the article "Tracing the Traces of Gurandil at the Pongkor Gold Mine" (2012) on the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources website, the gold reserves at Mount Pongkor are estimated to be sustainable for the next 12 to 14 years.

4. Dompu, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)

The Onto Mine is a gold mine located in Hu'u District, Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The Onto Mine is the result of exploration conducted by PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) since 2010.

The discovery of a copper-gold ore deposit in this area was announced in February 2020 by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), indicating the region's significant potential.

Based on exploration results as of December 2019, the Onto Mine's mineral resources are estimated at 1.7 billion tons, with a content of 0.89% copper and 0.49 grams of gold per ton.

To determine the size, extent, and characteristics of the mineral resources, 64 drill holes were drilled. This discovery demonstrates the vast and rich mineral resources of the Onto Mine.

5. West Sumbawa, NTB

The Batu Hijau gold mine is located in West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province.

Known as the second-largest gold and copper mine in Indonesia, Batu Hijau even has the largest reserves in the country.

Operations began in 2000 and are managed by PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, an Indonesian mining company with a strong reputation in the industry.
